Things to do in London with your children this spring

Written by City Relay

As the weather gets milder, family-friendly activities start to open across London, perfect for the young travellers in your group. If you’re looking for options, take some inspiration from our selection below.

Sea Life London Aquarium

A genuine marvel – home to one of Europe’s largest collections of global marine life, allowing you to get up close and personal with some of nature’s wonders. The aquarium has several zones, each specified for a particular area of the ocean, or is specially designed to capture your attention; Penguin Point, Seahorse Kingdom or the Ship Wreck. Adults and children will be amazed by the vast array of sea life on show, accompanied by facts and figures about the animals you may not have known before.

Kids’ Kew

Within the world-famous botanical gardens Kew Gardens, you will find Climbers and Creepers – Britain’s first interactive botanical play zone. Kids’ Kew is designed for ages 3-9 and is built within an old greenhouse in the middle of the park. The kids can explore as they climb through plants and slide through tunnels. At the south of the gardens, explore the underground world of badgers in their life-sized sett. Near the Orangery, step inside the hive and discover the secret life of bees. Kids’ Kew is filled with fun things for them to do while also learning about the wonders of nature.

Battersea Park Children’s Zoo

Battersea Park Children’s Zoo is an excellent place for your little explorers and some family fun. Help feed the animals, and learn more about some of the most exotic wildlife, such as the cotton-top tamarin from North West Colombia or the zebra finch from Australia. The zoo has a play place in the centre where children can get rid of some of their energy built up throughout the day.

Royal Observatory Greenwich

Take a tour of the Universe and experience the wonders of the night sky with expert commentary from real astronomers. The planetarium has a great under-7’s show called Ted’s Space Adventure where you get to join the adventure around the Solar System, investigating different places and how they affect us.
