Our favourite food market in London

Written by City Relay

There is no better way of experiencing the dynamic life in London than to visit one of the many markets. From Borough to Brixton, we narrowed down 6 of our favourite food markets in London.

#1 Portobello & Golborne market

Portobello Road - Food market

How could we miss Portobello Market? Walk on the same steps as Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts… Portobello & Golborne market is one of London’s oldest markets and has been open since the 1800s. It became particularly famous for its antiques in the 1950s. Now there are numerous stalls offering everything from fruits and baked goods to posters, vintage and designer clothes, bric-a-brac, music and, of course, loads of antiques! You will find specialist food stalls selling baked goods, oils, olives, amazing cheeses, meats, seafood and much more! Most of the family-run stalls lie among London’s best food destinations with fresh produce, and essential and exotic ingredients from all around the world.

When: Every Friday to Sunday, 10 am – 5 pm

Located in central London, Borough Market is one of the largest and oldest food markets in London (since 1851). Once inside, it’s easy to forget that you are in the middle of London! Located in North London on the Northern Line, the atmosphere at Camden Lock Market is amazing: the stalls are full of unexpected things. The food area has plenty of wonderful food options from countries far and wide. You can even walk off all of the delicious goodies you have tried by having a stroll along Regents Canal. You can sit and enjoy the beautiful weather and enjoy a drink (or two!).

When: Monday to Friday, 10 am – 2 pm
