Why hosting has never been that easy

Written by City Relay

My grandma always used to tell me that hosting was an art. Seeing her getting the house ready was like witnessing the twelve labours of Hercules, making me realise that a proper welcoming does not tolerate any ounce of improvisation.

Today, with the short-term rental success, more and more hosts around the world are looking to rent their property when they are away. Yet it can sometimes turn into a bitter-sweet experience when they realise how restrictive this is. How to deal with guest enquiries when you are away? Who will come to fix the boiler? Not you, obviously, because you are, or at least, were currently having a nice time in a place that is so far you don’t even remember that you actually had a boiler at home. And no, you don’t remember your WiFi code and its 12 letters. And you are already struggling to fix your curtains when you are at home, so doing it via Skype will certainly take a while. Hosting someone, on top of this? Good luck.
